Welcome Home

There is hope for you here.

At The Mission of Hope Church, our love for God comes first and our love for people is everlasting. Whether you are seeking a church home, returning to faith, or simply need prayer, we welcome you with open hearts.

We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; in water baptism; and in divine healing. Our worship, ministry, and fellowship are led by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.

Our Mission

Sharing the gospel. Healing the brokenhearted. Proclaiming liberty.

We stand on Luke 4:18: called to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, bring recovery of sight to the blind, and set at liberty those who are oppressed.

Our Story

A legacy of faith since 1996.

The Mission of Hope began as a Bible study and grew through prayer, faithful leadership, and a commitment to God’s Word.

A ministry is born

Led by the Spirit of God, The Mission of Hope began as a Bible study founded by the Honorable Carol E. Lewis. It grew into a spiritual warfare prayer group praying for the city, state, nation, and world.

Growing in worship

Regular worship began at 3906 Fairfax Road, followed by seasons at 5132 Chalgrove Avenue and 4259 Park Heights Avenue. In December 2003, the church moved to its present home on West Belvedere Avenue.

Leadership continues

Rev. Anthony L. Lewis was promoted to Pastor, while founder Carol E. Lewis was elevated to Overseer. Her persistent faith and love for Christ left an enduring spiritual legacy.

Faithful through every season

Following Overseer Lewis’s homegoing in 2008, Pastor Lewis and First Lady Debora Lewis remained steadfast. In 2011, the ministry received renewed confirmation to continue its calling. Pastor Lewis was ordained Elder on June 10, 2019.

Serving together

On October 26, 2019, Minister Scarlette Lewis was called to Elder and Elder Anthony Lewis was elevated to Overseer. In November 2022, Elder Scarlette was appointed Assistant Pastor. Together, the church continues doing what God has called it to do.

Faithful guidance and covering

Overseer Anthony L. Lewis gratefully acknowledges his spiritual father, Bishop Rudolph McLaughlin, and Bishop McLaughlin’s lovely wife, Elder Gwen, for their spiritual guidance, love, and faithful connection to the ministry.
